Hallgrímskirkja

Last weekend in Iceland we visited this church - Hallgrim's church. Unfortunantely we couldn't enter and go all the way to the top. I really wanted to do that as it's said to offer a spectacular view! But it was amazing to see from the outside too.
It's a Lutheran parish church and is 74.5 meter tall. The church is named after the Icelandic poet and clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614 to 1674), author of the Passion Hymns.
It's not that old, it's said that construction work began in 1945 and ended in 1986 (38 years to complete!!)
If you ever go to Reykjavik, it's a building you cannot miss out, reasons, it's visible ;) and it's also located in the city center! (^^)
