Do I need a supporting pillow during pregnancy?
Honestly I wasn't sure if I needed one and some were super expensive. So my first thought was no.
But I decided to ask friends to see what they had used, some said just regular pillows and other said they had invested in one.
As I came further into my pregnancy I realized I needed one! I like to sleep on my back so to sleep on the side wasn't comfortable for me. The pillow gave a nice support helping me getting some sleep.
Budget?
If you are on a budget just use whatever pillows you have at home, there is no need to actually buy one, Some pillows are super expensive!
You can also ask friends to see if they have or second hand market.
I promise when you start to ask friends you will find one or two who have had one and might even let you borrow it!
How to decide?
If you are to invest there are many different out there, shape and price point. But think about yourself and your sleeping habits as you decide.
One long pillow
There is a long one which you put on the side you desire. However if you tend to move when you sleep (like me) this might work in the mid months but as I came closer to month 8 and 9 this didn't work for me as it made me waking up having to move my blanket and pillow, it felt like a lot of work especially moving between sides so I bet I lost 1-2h sleep as it took me time to also fall asleep again.
I think I also woke up my hubby a few times.
Two-side pillow (like a neck pillow but body size)
You have the double sided one, imagine a "neck pillow" but in a larger scale. You sleep in between and can twist and turn as you like.
Downside..it does take some space in bed but you don't need to move the pillow between the different sides. As it is two sided it provides support both for your back and your stomach.
