SNSD is taking over the US market?!

As most SONE's know SNSD is currently promoting their latest album THE BOYS in the US.
They have been on shows such as Letterman and Live! with Kelly. The fans are loving it and the BIG country gets to see one of Asias' most popular girl group.

The question is... will they succeed? Will SNSD break the US and intl. market?
We know other Korean bands and artists have tried their luck but not really succeed.
I have mixed feelings, I'm not a huge SNSD fan! But I admit they have catchy songs that gets to you easily! However in MY opinion: SNSD are not very good live.
I have seen SNSD live many times and 4/5 times I can only hear 10% of the lyrics when singing so I know when it's live and not based on that! However for this album it seems they have practised alot! SM has also put on recorded voices when showing the lives from SM Town in the US and France. While they have not done it for example DBSK!
Also we know that SM has put A LOT of money into this promotion, the amount of millions of dollars should not be spoken about... still we know XD

I guess we just have to wait and see what will happen. The US fans seems to enjoy it and make the girls hit the headlines and create interest!

I spotted Tiff do a mistake on the Kelly Show, when shaking hands use your RIGHT hand, NOT left! Also I laughed when she was praised for her English. ^^

But it's also disappointing that only Jessica and Tiff do the most interviewing. SM should have tried to give the girls English lessons! If they are gonna make it in the US and other intl. markets, to know English somewhat well is always a bonus!! And we know some of them knows English better than we think!

THE BOYS (JAPANESE Re-package)

少女時代 - Re:package "GIRLS' GENERATION" ～The Boys～

This repack version was released right before Christmas and I guess most Japanese fans ran to their local store to purchase this one.
So far THE BOYS album has not been released in Japan. Instead they got a repack of their Japanese debute album + the Japanese version of The boys.

I'm not a fan of the Japanese version of the hit song The Boys. The Japanese sounds strange and the song is not as catchy as it is in both Korean and English. I was actually quite disappointed when I first heard it.

As for the other 3 songs it's maybe the songs that have been played in Japanese media the most.

I like the new version of Great Escape, I'd like to see this one be played at a concert. However the version Bad girls sounds like a bad mix of some kind of Euro-techno "trash" I heard back in the 90's. It was a disappointment, the song has lost it's edge and greatness. Also instead of "Dev" I bet Tiff could do the rapping part much better (^^;;)

I like Time Machine, it's a pure Japanese song and I guess that's why. Compare to most of their hits this year it's a slow song. It does remind me of other songs however I like it, both lyrics and music!

As for Mr Taxi - the most played one and their biggest hit in Japan this year. At the start it sounded like Super Junior's Mr Simple. Also the intro is very long, almost 1 minute.

This version is more up-tempo and could be played at nightclubs!

I'm not very pleased to be honest, the cd is very expensive and for the amount I thought I was getting a WOW moment but this isn't too much to say WOW to.

It's a shame... Or maybe it was just me who hoped for more?

What happened here?!

SNSD performed the JAPANESE version of the boys on Hey x3 however I couldn't understand a single word, It just sound weird. It's OKAY while reading the lyrics however even so it just sound like.. hmm..!? It's not the same feeling as the song gave me while listening to either the Korean or English versions.
So yeah..a good song went bad.. they should have kept it in ENGLISH only for the Japanese release or just use a FEW japanese words and mainly used English.
I do not blame the girls, I rather blame the translators who made the lyrics because they did not make it in a way so it fit music and sound.
Even MC Hamada said the same thing... It was not nice but it's the truth, it's almost impossible to understand it without seeing the lyrics!!

Sorry SNSD but you just ruin a perfect song! (T_T)

Finally some sleep!

I finally got a long good nights sleep!
I'm not sure how many hours, but more than my usual 4-5h!
Yesterday on my way home from uni I fell asleep on the train! I almost fell asleep on the underground too however I stood up so I woke up easily!

Today's friday and my studies has begun....

I got the album today and I've been going through all songs..
Here is my review for each song:

01. 더 보이즈 (Korean ver.) ★★★★
A very new style, a power song with edge!

02. 텔레파시(Telepathy) ★
Reminds of a song back from early 2000's. It's catchy but not my cup of tea, I've heard it too many times before.

03. Say yes ★
Too girly and too sweet? It feels a bit weird after hearing the power song "The boys". I think this song fits one of all the new younger girlbands..

04. TRICK ★★
Back to grown up girls? The chorus gets to me really easy.. still not WOW

05. 봄날(How great is your love) ★★★★
A sweet ballad, I like the lyrics and music..
It's a typical song I'll listen to in the morning on the bus

06. My J ★★
Sounds like an old song I used to like a lot. Or a song from a musical or some kind of musical related show. It's a bit too sweet for me...

07. OSCAR ★★★★
Again a fierce?! song or at least with some attitude! I like both lyrics and music

08. Top Secret ★★★
I wonder how this one will sound live? The lyrics are not special but still it gets to me fast!

09. Lazy Girl(Dolce Far Niente) ★
I don't know but once again... it's old and a bit boring. The music is catchy here and there but not enough to catch my full attention

10. 제자리걸음(Sunflower) ★★★★
Another ballad, sounds like the end of a movie! They really try to reach high notes, higher than normal.

11. 비타민(VITAMIN) -
Taken from a CF? I don't know about the lyrics to be honest, the music is fine but nothing to praise. surprised they have this song to be honest

12. MR. TAXI(Korean ver.) ★★★★
I still wonder why they changed the beginning of the song in the Korean version. I do like it in Korean.. maybe even more than the Japanese? then again I'm not sure if it's because my Korean is better ^^
But compare to other songs they've released in Jap/Kor.. this one is good in both languages!

13. 더 보이즈/The Boys (English ver.) ★★★★
I wasn't sure about this first, Many Koreans have difficult to pronounce words in English and many times I can't even hear what they are saying. However in all the girls did a great job!
I'm not sure if I like this or the Korean version the most ^^



In all it's a so-so album. To be honest I liked their Japanese album much much more. I'm not sure if it's because I had higher expectations or what the reason is?
But I wasn't a fan of Oh! either, Just like that album it had some great songs but overall it's just so-so. I wouldn't call this album bad, but I'm not overjoyed!
Then again it might take some time before I get used to it, but a great album should be great the first time you hear it right?!
Also I wished they would have had included a Korean ver. of Bad girl. Because that's a song I've been hooked on but I guess you can't have it all (^^;;)

After weeks of waiting it's finally here THE BOYS aka 더 보이즈.
Both Korean and English version were released just a while ago...

My review: Time to promote not only SNSD but K-pop?! ^^
The sound it totally different and it's a more grown-up and sexy SNSD.
I love the outfits in the music video are killing!!
As mentioned many times before.. I love Sunny's new look!
I do not like is SooYoung's "위풍" in the Korean version.. it sounds like ENGRISH for "pull".. Hyoyeon does it better...you can hear it more clear compare to SY.
Also I do not like TaeYeon's darkbrown-blonde-pink hairstyle.. but otherwise she looks cute.
Jessica and Tiffany show off their English skills.. ;)

I'm not sure which version I like the most because both sounds great!
I still need to get used to the song and the fact that the style is so different!

I'm looking forward to see their comeback stage on the 21st!!

소녀시대의 컴백 difference between ENG and KOR

SM Entertainment just released two teasers for SNSDs upcoming album, one in English and one in Korean!
I like Tiffany's rapping part and it's going to be interesting to hear the girls in English.

AS said before the concept is totally new and VERY different from the SNSD we are used to see.. no more Gee or Oh here (^^;;)


However there was a difference between the teasers besides the language.
It says ONLINE release on the 18th (TUESDAY) for the English version, while it said 19th for the Korean one.
What I think they mean is the album release.. but is it ONLY the english version that will be out online on the 18th or will also the Korean version be out?!
I wonder, will have to stay updated for more info...


It's set that the girls will do their comeback on the 21st!!

Wow.. SNSD in English

The teaser for their upcoming album "The Boys" now also has a teaser in English.
As mentioned earlier SNSD is now going to debute in the US.
Teddy Riley is one of many behind their new cd, it's said that the song "The boys" is to be a masterpiece!!

According to media the girls will do their comeback on KBS Music Bank on Oct 21!!
