The other week hubby and I spoke we both craved korean spicy rice cakes.
So last saturday we finally made some! And to go with it we had korean seaweed rolls aka kimbap.
Hubby missed out on some ingredients but it was still delicious!!!

Korean food at home

Our friends loves food, who doesn't?
We too, so as we went to their house for the weekend, we cooked dinner one of the days. And we decided to cook Korean food. In the end we did 4 dishes but we were so full from the late kebab lunch I'd say we only ate 3 dishes. Anyway.. I only took a photo of these 3 we ate most of. And best of it, they were happy and pleased, the whole family. So it was so fun to make it for them.
We were also able to find ingredients more similar to the Korean ones and also we found great ingredients to a great price. We'd never find it to that price in Stockholm, that's for sure!!!

The menu
Japchae, Rabokki and Bulgogi :)

Left overs becomes the main

Yesterday evening we went for a long walk, very nice :)
And on the way home we talked about dinner. I suddenly craved Korean spicy rice cakes (ddeokbokki) but we weren't sure if we had enough ingredients at home. I remember we had some opened packs of ddeok (rice cakes) both normal tube version and soup version. I also found some leek in the freezer and we also had a new pack of fish cake and we have a cupboard filled with noodles.
Yes, we made a complete dish of the left overs.

And you might know.. I'm the Ddeokbokki queen :)
I could eat this several times a week, but since it's mostly (85%) carbs I wouldn't recommend it ^^
Still whenever eaten, so so so so delicious!!!

Ddeokbokki night

One of my largest cravings during my wedding diet was to eat ddeokbokki - Korean Spicy rice cakes.
Who loves ddeokbokki? I do ^^
Last Sunday we decided to have a ddeokbokki feast. And I'm very good at making this dish, no kidding.. my hubby and all my friends I have made it for - Korean, Chinese, Western.. all loves my way of doing it.
This time I added some extras. I usually do not have sausage or cabbage but I found some recipes so I wanted to try it out ^^ All served with korean radish kimchi - ggakdukki!

What you cannot see is an onion, it was added.
As well as Korean chili paste, sugar, black pepper, and water.
We also added some dumplings ^^

This is so easy to make, slice and dice and put it into the pan and it will cook by itself.
You need to stir now and then to get it all mixed and cooked.
but if having dumplings, be gentle. Also you need to pre-cook your eggs. Eggs are good for digestion as the food is salty and spicy.

며느리도 몰라

As a final thing to do with my "sister" or bestie in Korea we had ddeokbokki.
We walked around the neighbourhood and got to this place, a tiny and weird looking house.
I'm not sure it'd be legal in other countries..haha
Anyway, the name was quite funny too, 며느리도 몰라. 며느리 means daughter in law 도 means even and 몰라 means don't know.
Anyway the menu offered a lot of things to a very affordable price! 오뎅/Odeng (fish cake), 쫄면/Jjolmyeon (chewy noodles), 라면/Ramen noodles), 만두./mandu (dumplings), 햄/Ham, 계란/Gyeran (egg), 치즈/Cheese, 볶음공기밥/Bokkum gonggibap (side rice for fried rice)

When we were gonna pay I totally misheard her, or I thought I heard wrong, I was sure to pay double what I paid, so I looked so stupid. I said..Are you really sure that's correct? haha

This place is located in Nowon, Northern Seoul.

일욜의 떡볶이식사

On Sunday evening we had this for lunch/dinner... we woke up late so we had no lunch therefore I'm not sure what to call it but we had it at dinner time.
Instead of fish cake I used up all the sausages we had left over ^^
It turned out really nice!!
Both my darling and I we LOVE ddeokbokki, so it was a great way to end our Sunday!!
This ddeok too was way better than the one we usually get!!

Happiness in a pan ^^

Final dinner

I'm so slow... half a week has passed already.
then again the more I think about it the more lonely I feel, as only half a week has passed it means it's 2,5 weeks to go!!! if only it was the other way around!
Anyway, my bf kept his promise and made me kimbap, not that he wanted to eat it I suppose as he left for Korea the following morning but I wanted it, so Mr. Gentleman took out his cooking skills and did a fantastic job! ^^
Although I wish I was with him right now, I know he needs this time to be with his family and friends, especially since he hasn't seen them for a long time. Yes I got to stop to be selfish!! Sorry I can't help myself, I guess more selfish posts will come *laughs* (Like not most posts are..haha I mean this is MY blog)

Looks delicious... no?

Ddeokbokki dinner... again

A few weeks ago after spending the whole day outside we came home and I made us ddeokbooki for dinner, or to be completely correct Cheese Rabokki.
It looks much, but my bf can eat a lot...
Anyway this is one of my fave Korean dishes, probably my fave all time!! Over the years I have become better and better at making this dish. All my Korean friends who have tried my version says I'm really good, so it's a good grade ^^

Is probably having it tomorrow night too, before my bf leaves for Korea.
Gonna be solo for 3 weeks, wonder how I will spend my time, probably in front of my laptop watching tv series lol

Ddeokbokki dinner

Last week my bf suggested to eat ddeokbokki, a Korean dish both of us like.
Luckily I passed by the Korean market and I could pick up the rice cakes ^^
We had this for dinner on Saturday, a perfect meal with my perfect company ^^
It couldn't be any better!!!

떡볶이에 대한 갈망

During last weekend I had a huge craving for ddeokbokki. (떡볶이에 대한 갈망 in Korean)
It has been a while since I cooked it. And to solve my craving I decided to make it.
I tried a new recipe with inspiration of Maangchi, however I think I used a little to much stock, it got a little bit too salty. However eatable ^^
I could seriously eat this dish every week!!
I did only have a few of the ddeok "sticks" so I had to use the ones I usually have when making soup, totally okay but I love the chewiness of the "sticks".

Into my ddeokbokki I added green onion, odeng, egg, and some left over pork belly and ramyun noodles

DELICIOUS

진미떡볶이‬

BK oppa took me out for dinner last week in Korea.
On my request we went to Sindang-dong and had Ddeokbokki, but not just any ddeokbokki.
Of course, as all Korean do.. oppa had searched and found this place.
We did not go to "Ddeokbokki town", but kinda close by.
This place had a special ddeokbokki sauce, it was much darker and had a richer taste than the usual one.
I'm grateful to oppa for this simple and delicious meal, Also, with oppa I had a great time ^^

My weakness

I have had a craving for ddeokbokki for quite some time, so on last night, as a treat for myself I made it ^^
I usually make it when I'm home alone, as my family ain't a fan of it.
I made with onion, noodles, and sausage ^^

I think that ddeokbokki is my secret weakness ^^
I cannot wait until I'm in Korea and can eat it off a street vendor!

More deliciousness from Go Choo

Last week a friend and I met up for dinner at my new found restaurant, Go Choo.
Last time I remembered they served ddeokbokki to some girls, however it was not to be found on the menu.
So I asked if they had it, and they did..despite the very expensive price we decided to buy it.
In Korea I can get this dish for US$2,5-3, here it cost aprox US$28!!!
To be honest at first I thought I misheard the price but sadly not. Anyway luckily it was delicious!! it truly was!! And since we shared it, it was okay, but I doubt I'll buy it again because, well... it's way cheaper to buy the ingredients and make it at home!

I wonder what I should try next time...
Yukejang, sun tufu jjigae or bibimbap!? (^^;;)

Go Choo's Bulgogi

Very spicy, delicious, and the most expensive ddeokbokki I have ever had in my entire life!

I sent the picture of the ddeokbokki to a friend of mine, he wonder if the black seeds were caviar or if the fish was shark fin! I said..nope..regular black sesame seeds and fish cake. ^^

First time in a long time

I haven't eaten the Korean snack ddeokbokki since last January, and yes i miss it!
I have already decided which ddeokbokki places i will visit in Seoul!!

Anyway, i visited the Korean food store the other day and found a kit with everything including noodles.
And so i decided to buy it!
It was totally heaven to eat it! And it got me excited about my upcoming travel!

Best snack

One of my fave snacks is this..떡볶이 & 김밥 (Ddeokbokki & Kimbap). To dip the roll in the chili sauce is the best (^0^)It's simple to make and it's just awesome..
I wonder who created these dishes in the first place XD
For you qwho do not know what this is..
1. 떡볶이 - Spicy ricecakes, this time I added with onion and noodles therefore it's now called 라볶이 (^0^)
2. 김밥 - seaweedrolls
