Valentines day dinner

We celebrated Valentines already last Satuday, this is to that today is a VERY busy day for the both of us and we really wanted to enjoy ourselves so therefore we moved it to the weekend.
I already showed you the flowers... I also got some pressies - giftcard and a dress from my darling.
He is the most wonderful man and soon to be called my husband!

We had made a reservation to a restaurant called Panefresco, located in the city center.
The service was very good, I think it also could do with my allergies. They were really careful because in Sweden they know how sensitive people can be.
The restaurant is not the most romantic one, but the food is awesome.

Italian food is simply one of the best!!

Delicious and great evening. Thank you darling for being with me every single day!

Pasta Carbonara

We still miss Italy a lot, and in the end we had Italian for dinner, I found a video on Youtube through Jamie Oliver's page!
This was super easy and didn't take longer than 20 min to make! So for all pasta loving people, there is NO excuse!! We will most likely try this again.

St. Peter's Basilica

On our first day in Rome we headed to the Vatican.
We had made reservation online for entrance only. It is really worth it.
We did not have a guided tour, and we didn't feel like it was needed. People tried to sell tickets to us, OF COURSE. But we said no.
To enter the Basilica we had to queue up. It was said to take a long time. And yes, probably during high season. But for us it took 20 min.  So NO it's not worth to pay 35 Euro more for guide and skipping the line, unless you are in hurry!

We also walked all the way up in the Basilica. We climbed all the stairs, all 541 of them!
It cost 6 Euro, I kinda regret not paying 2 Euro more to take the lift up (by that shipping around 200+ steps). Not that it was so difficult. But it made me SUPER sweaty!!!
In all, if you are visiting the St Peter's Basilica this is totally worth the visit!!! The 360 degree view is spectacular! Especially when it's good weather!!

Bialetti Moka Induction,Anthracite

In Rome my darling bough us this, a Bialetti Moka coffemaker. This one can also be used on Induction stoves! He payed 48.5 Euro for it, aprox 450 SEK, when we came home and Googled we found out it cost 825 SEK here!! Almost double the price!
So we made a good deal.
On Saturday evening we were the very last to leave the shop! ^^ I'm so happy I hurried to get there!
I love the colour of this one and it will last for long!
We got the one with 6 cups as we from time to time have guests it's good to be able to offer nice coffee!!

Happy Days!

Shopping @ Franchi Ricevimenti

One thing I really wanted to buy and bring home was Italian ham and cheese!
I Googled it and found this place - Franchi.
It's located between Metro Stops, on a big shopping street close to the Vatican.
We went there on a Saturday morning and it was pretty empty.
The man who worked there was a big Italian man but very friendly. he spoke all in Italian and I in English but body language made us understand each other!
I bought two different hams and two different cheeses to less than half the price I would pay in Sweden!! I felt so lucky and happy for finding this delicious place!
I read that service had been so so but I got great service! So THUMBS up!
I got them packed in vacuum bags so it was easy to bring back home!
I can't wait to open them up!

We also bought a bottle of wine to bring home.
They also sold pasta and other foods.
They also had a small deli but we were still full from breakfast and was soon heading for lunch so we did not try anything but all looked fantastic!!

Will def. go back here if I go to Rome!

Tiramisu @ Pompi

Before I went to Rome I was informed to go to this place!
At first I thought they only had one location, but it turned out they had more. And yes, I didn't search I just opened the link my friend sent to me. Anyway, the one we went to was located at Spagna, a few minutes from our hotel. They had several kinds but to us this was kinda big so we only got one, therefore we tried the Classic one! Price 4 Euro.

What can I say, well.. it's a hype because it was always people there and YES it was tasty. But I think you can find better Tiramisu. Like the one I talked about yesterday. Still, this was delicious and one pack was enough for two! I kinda regret not tasting the Strawberry one, but I will leave that for next time!

Walk in the park

Last Saturday, my friend took us out for lunch and some private sightseeing.
After the big (but normal for Italians) lunch she took us to a beautiful park!
Even here you could discover history! Seriously NO matter where you go in Rome you find sights!
And the weather was great! We were really truly blessed with weather, food and company!!

Cantina & Cucina

For our second dinner in Rome, we went to a hosteria called Cantina & Cucina.
My colleague had given me this restaurant as one of the ones she liked.
It was very crowded but we got a table without any problem.
I had Pasta Amatricina for main and Panna Cotta Strawberry for dessert.
Amatricina was a tomato based pasta sauce with crunchy bacon ^^
All washed down with a glass of red wine.

I liked the inertia and the service, except for when we asked for the bill.
In the end we asked them for it 3 times before they finally gave it to us. Therefore they did not get as much tip as we had planned to give them!
Still I'd visit this place again if I came back to Rome!!

Dessert @ Osteria Barberini

And this is the dessert from Osteria Barberini.
I had the panna cotta with chocolate and my darling had the Tiramisu!
This was most likely the best Tiramisu we had in Rome!
As said yesterday, the food at this place and the service was GREAT!!!

I so wanna eat this again!

Delicious Pasta Dinner

The other day we had dinner at a restaurant called Osteria Barberini in Rome.
We only got an hour to finish our meal due to we had not made a reservation. I really recommend this place and DO make a reservation!!
We had great service and DELICIOUS food!
I had the Lobster pasta. Half a lobster!
My darling had the shrimp pasta, it was good but he kinda regret not taking the same as me!
Anyway I strongly recommend this place, Next time I go to Rome! This place will be a MUST visit!

La Casa Del Caffe Al Pantheon.

We did a slightly un-Italian thing by having this late but it couldn't be helped.
This cappuccino was delicious!!
And they had so many customers, then again, it's a rather famous place in Rome so it is understandable ^^

If you ever visit Rome, I suggest you to stop for a coffee here ^^

Good exercise!

Sightseeing is not only fun, it's also good for health!!
33 699 steps in a day, not bad ^^

La Vita Com'è

In Rome, do as Romans does..
Therefore I'm listening to some Italian music. It's not really my style but I guess I got to give it a try ^^

Enjoy!
