Saving Mr Banks

This movie too, I had heard a lot, some said it was good, other so-so.
I agree with the ones saying it was so-so. The movie has its charms and good bits here and there, but to me it was too much talk and not so much action. It felt like reading a biography. Which I do like, but it was not what I expected. However it was interesting to learn the scenes behind the success of Mary Poppins.
Still I'm not convinced how to judge this movie... Or maybe it was ruined because of my expectations!?

★★★

Plot
In London in 1961, financially struggling author Pamela "P. L." Travers reluctantly agrees to travel to Los Angeles to meet with Walt Disney at the urging of her agent Diarmuid Russell. Disney has been courting Travers for 20 years, seeking to acquire the film rights to her Mary Poppins stories, on account of his daughters' request to make a film based on the character. Travers, however, has been extremely hesitant toward letting Disney bring her creation to the screen because he is known primarily as a producer of animated films, which Travers openly disdains.
Her youth in Allora, Queensland in 1906 is depicted through flashbacks, and is shown to be the inspiration for much of Mary Poppins. Travers was very close to her handsome and charismatic father Travers Robert Goff, who fought a losing battle against alcoholism.
Upon her arrival in Los Angeles, Travers is disgusted by what she feels is the city’s unreality, as well as by the naïve optimism and intrusive friendliness of its inhabitants, personified by her assigned limo driver, Ralph.
At the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, Travers begins collaborating with the creative team assigned to develop Mary Poppins for the screen, screenwriter Don DaGradi, and music composers Richard and Robert Sherman.
Travers’ working relationship with the creative team is difficult from the outset, with her insistence that Mary Poppins is the enemy of sentiment and whimsy. Disney and his associates are puzzled by Travers’ disdain for fantasy, given the fantastical nature of the Mary Poppins story, as well as Travers’ own richly imaginative childhood existence. Travers has particular trouble with the team’s depiction of George Banks, head of the household in which Mary Poppins is employed as nanny. Travers describes Banks’ characterization as completely off-base and leaves the room distraught. The team begins to grasp how deeply personal the Mary Poppins stories are to Travers, and how many of the work’s characters are directly inspired by Travers’ own past...

Make your Move (OST)

The movie was so-so.. but I like a lot of the songs from the soundtrack!
I give it many thumbs up!! ^^
My fave songs are Let me in, You found me, Runnin on Empty, Fall For You, and Catching Shadows.
I donno, I don't have a lot to say, I mean the songs fit the movie and it's a soundtrack... It's fun to get some English songs with all Kpop artists. What I miss is a track by BoA herself!? I think I read she did the Let me in during the movie... but it's not on the album?!
SNSD's Cheap Cheeper sounds a like Britney Spears's Womanizer, or is it just me!? And why didn't f(x) do an original song for this movie, why use NU ABO?

Catching Shadows

Just like I mentioned, here's another track from the US-KOR movie Make your move.
This one is titled Catching Shadows! I haven't heard about this singer before, it's always fun to find new music ^^

Enjoy!!

Stoneware Rectangular Dish

I just love Le Creuset stuff, however they are not the cheapest so it's not something you just buy.
However the other day I was actually trying to find a casserole when I stumbled  on these two dishes (Roasters in US Eng I guess?!)!
I wasn't meant tot buy them, but they were on sale, so I just had to buy them! (^^;;)

I bought the red ones. I donno, but when I think of Le Creuset I think red,
although their stuff comes in many various colours (^0^)

These are 26 cm and 32 cm.
Normal price aprox. US$113 / £68 / €83.
But I got them for almost half price US$58 / £35 / €42.

A good buy I'd say!! (^-^)

Pics @ Le Creuset

Colours

This album was actually released back in 2012, and I have only heard the singles until now.
I found the cd on sale (US$8) so I felt, why not!? ^^
And Danish music is never disappointing that's for sure. I like this hmm...teenage boy sound ^^
I guess it's because I like Christopher's voice! To think about it, it'd be awesome if he was promoted in Sweden and other countries too, thinking of the music that people like, can I call it mainstream!? Then well... he fits right in!
My fave songs on this album is Set the Record Straight, Against the Odds, Unbreakable, and Lots of Downs. ^^

Shannon LaBrie's You Found Me

This is one of the songs from Make Your Move OST.
In the following couple of days I'll share my fave ones! Hopefully I'll also get the soundtrack so I can do a full review ^^

Here's Shannon LaBrie with You Found me.

Enjoy!

Old Boy (2013)

I was skeptic already when I heard that they'd re-make this movie in Hollywood.
And well.. with all rights. This version was REALLY REALLY bad!!
They have missed so many parts that was essential to the whole movie.
I didn't like the acting either, it was too american and too much. I think it was sad how they could ruin such a great movie!!

Story
In 1993, alcoholic advertising executive Joe Doucett ruins a meeting with a potential client, Daniel Newcombe, by hitting on his girlfriend. Afterwards, Joe gets drunk, and goes to a bar owned by his friend Chucky, who refuses him entry. While stuck outside, he spots a woman with a yellow umbrella, before being knocked unconscious.
He awakens in an isolated hotel room and finds he is a prisoner. His captors provide him with basic hygiene items and meager portions of processed Chinese food, along with a pint of vodka with every meal to prevent withdrawal. Through the TV, Joe hears that he has been framed for the rape and murder of his ex-wife and that his daughter, Mia, has been adopted. After being prevented from committing suicide, Joe starts writing Mia letters, gives up drinking, and spends the next 20 years planning his revenge. He becomes a skilled boxer by watching televised matches, and compiles a list of everyone who might be responsible for his imprisonment, with Newcombe being the prime suspect.
In 2013, Joe watches an adult Mia being interviewed by a TV show called "Unresolved Mysteries of Crime", and claiming she'd be willing to forgive him if he returns. Suddenly, he is drugged and awakes in a box in a field, with money and a cell phone...

47 Ronin

I had a lot higher hopes for this movie, I heard about this one ages ago, but I haven't had the time to watch it until now. And well... it was a disappointment. So much US and Hollywood in it, it didn't feel real at all.
I like most of the actors but this movie felt well... weird!?
Oh well, now I have seen it. And will probably never do again.

Plot
In late medieval Japan, Kai is a half-Japanese, half-British outcast who lives in the domain of Ako, ruled by the benevolent Lord Asano Naganori, who found a young Kai lost in the forest and accepted him into his household. Despite being scorned by the samurai due to his lowborn status and mixed ancestry, Kai falls in love with Asano's daughter, Mika.
Before a visit from Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, Lord Asano is visited by the Shogun's master of ceremonies, Lord Kira, who becomes attracted to Mika. He arranges a duel for the entertainment of the Shogun between his best warrior, the Lovecraftian Samurai, and one chosen by Oishi, principal counselor to Lord Asano. Ako's champion, Yasuno is found by Kai to be incapacitated before the duel by the sorceress Mizuki, working for Lord Kira.
Kai secretly dons Yasuno's armor and fights the Lovecraftian Samurai, but his disguise is broken and he is sentenced to punishment. Later that night, Mizuki bewitches Asano into believing Kira is raping Mika, causing Asano to attack an unarmed Kira in delirium. While the offense for attacking a Shogunate official is execution, the Shogun allows Asano to die with honor through seppuku, grants the domain of Ako to Lord Kira, and brands Oishi and his men Ronin. Kira demands Mika's hand in marriage on the spot, but the Shogun grants her one year to mourn the death of her father, and forbids the Ronin of Ako from seeking vengeance. To ensure there is no interference, Kira imprisons Oishi in an outdoor pit to break his spirit...

Fallin' Over You

One of my fave Canadian singers, Chad Brownlee, are back with a new song!
I have been listening non-stop since it came out on Youtube.
Here it is Fallin' over you.

I hope he'll release a new album soon ^^
Or at least before August, as that's when I'm planning to go to Canada again!

Enjoy!!

和 アイスクリーム

I should have mentioned these months ago, I found them before X-mas actually but I have been too busy to write about these two deliciousness!
I found these at the local Japanese food market in Stockholm. (Japanska Torget)

If you have been to Japan, you know they have different ice-cream flavours than we do.
And luckily now I have found two!
Green tea and Black Sesame!!
Black sesame is good when wanting something cold but not too sweet.
And Green tea is green tea, this one has a rich green tea flavour too ^^

The brand is called Nagomi and I think it's German.
Anway, for all of you Japanese ice cream flavour lovers out there in Stockholm, if you haven't tried these two, please do ^^

Line Deco addict!!

There's a fun way to pimp your phone.
I found it last night and couldn't stop, therefore I'm extremely tired today!!
But I'm happy with my choice of fixing my phone before bedtime!

So this new software belongs to the chat program - LINE, and it's called LINE DECO.
Kinda simple name and also very simple to use!
In the program you can fine the normal LINE characters like Brown, Moon and Cony, but there is lots more!
Sorry for making it sound like a sales post, but I do love it!! ^^

And best of all, it's for free ^^

Have you heard of LINE before?
It's like Whatsapp but from Japan.
I use it with all my Japanese friends, but also some Korean and Swedish.
And yes, of course it's more common in Japan, but also Korea and other Asian countries.
However compare to Whatsapp it's filled with much more features. ^^
That's why I like to use it ^^

My first home screen turned out like this ^^
What do you think!?

I'm gonna play more with this app tonight!! ^^

Kick Ass 2

Let's start with the first movie I saw, Kick Ass 2.
I saw the poster for it in London last August and last Friday I finally had time to watch it.
I actually saw half of it on my way to Japan last year but didn't have time to finish before I landed.
Well, what can I say, not much story, but you don't need to think at all. it's very dorky yet entertaining.
Still, I prefer the first movie over this one.

Story
Dave Lizewski, bored after having retired from fighting crime as Kick-Ass, begins training with Mindy Macready to become a proper hero. After accidentally killing his mother, Chris D'Amico is now with control over his family's money, and reinvents himself as supervillain the Motherfucker, swearing vengeance on Kick-Ass.
Mindy's guardian, Marcus, discovers she is still fighting crime and makes her promise to give it up. Kick-Ass joins the superhero team Justice Forever, led by Colonel Stars and Stripes; it includes Battle Guy, Dr. Gravity, Insect Man, Night-Bitch, and the parents of a missing child named Tommy. The team starts out working at soup kitchens and patrolling the streets before taking on the larger task of shutting down a brothel.
Dave tries to convince Hit-Girl to join Justice Forever, but she refuses.
The Motherfucker assembles a gang of supervillains and establishes an underground lair....

4Minute is coming!

I guess if you are a Swede and a fan of Kpop you haven't missed that 4Minute is coming to Sweden!
For their Europe tour they'll visit Barcelona and Stockholm!
They will play at Debaser in central Stockholm on May 25.
No age limit so I guess there will be a CRAZE.
This is also one of the reasons why I won't attend, I have realized I'm too old to be around the screaming and shouting teens!
Also 4Minute is not my fave kpop group, and well I have already seen them live in Korea, so I'm pleased with that.
(if SuJu, DBSK, Shinee, BoA, or SNSD would come - all SM I know, I'd make an exception)

Still, I'm happy Kpop is growing in Sweden and that a big band like 4Minute is coming!
Kpop-non-stop is making a great job!!! :)
So for all of you who have missed the news!! Here it is ^^

Tickets will be released later this month!!
For more info visit Kpopnonstop's FB page!!

Lots of movies

I went through four movies last weekend!
I'll post my reviews throughout this week, to be honest, I can say most now.
I was disappointed with most of them.. But well, now I have watched them so I don't need to think about them anymore!

Against the odds

Here's another song by Christopher that I mentioned yesterday.
This song was actually his debut song, it's called Against the odds.
I remember when I first saw him, a few years back, he looked so young and innocent ^^
By listening to him makes me want to travel back down to Copenhagen!! One of my fave cities in the world!

Enjoy this "live session" of the song!
