ビリギャル

I saw the trailer in Japan last year and found it interesting. I finally got the time to see it.
I enjoyed it very much, especially as it's built on a real story.
It really shows how important teachers are! They are the ones who can make students reach higher!
The movie is not complicated therefore it was great to watch when being tired after work.
I also like the song right before the end, it took me some time before I realized it was in English..haha!

After her father, whose main goal is to get her brother Ryuta into pro baseball, labels her an "air-head" and says she and her mother are being scammed by the cram school only for money, Sayaka becomes determined to study hard to prove her father wrong. Over the course of the summer holidays of her second year through to the exams at the end of her third year in senior high school, Sayaka studies extremely hard and goes without sleep to the extent that she nods off in her high school classes. 風立ちぬ

I finally got to see the final movie by Miyazaki Hayao, 風立ちぬ or The Wind Rises.
It's an animated historical drama film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, and is animated by Studio Ghibli. It was the final one by Miyazaki before his retirement in September 2013.
Although the story was appealing and of course as always great work.
I cannot feel to say it was a "wow" movie. I prefer となりのトトロ (My Neighbor Totoro), ハウルの動く城 (Howl's Moving Castle), 崖の上のポニョ (Ponyo), and 魔女の宅急便 (Kiki's Delivery Service).
Oh well, it was still a great final movie on a great era. I wonder how Ghibli will be from now on!!

そして父になる

I found out about this movie because of Fukuyama Masaharu, I usually watch the movies he's starring!
This story is really something! It's difficult to even imagine! Being adopted is one thing, but to be told that the child you have raised and thought is yours is suddenly someone's, and this is due to that someone at the hospital made a mistake. I was very touched by this movie and the children acts very well!! Although this have received publicity, I think it should have had received even more!! It's a movie, despite being quite dark, I'd recommend for others to watch!!

ディアフレンズ

Also this movie I found by chance on Youtube. And well.. I blame Kei-chan for this one too!
It was interesting, I think I have missed out on Kei-chan's earlier work, I mean she was more fierce and angry back then ^^
This movie too brings up an interesting topic about how life can become, hardships and friendship.
It is adapted from the manga "Dear Friends" by YOSHI, and art by Watanabe Ayu.

★★

Title: ディアフレンズ (Dear Friends)
Release dates: February 3, 2007
Running time: 115 min.

Story
Dear Friends follows a high-school student named Rina who believes that friends are not necessary and that they can only be used in times of need. Thus, she is unable to maintain a decent relationship with her friends and classmates. Her family's relationship is also lacking; her father does not care much about his family and her mother is over-protective.
Rina spends a lot of her time going to a club in Shibuya where Yousuke is the disc jockey with her friends Hiroko and Emi. Yousuke falls for Rina, but her attitude has a feral edge, and they neck but stop short of having sex.
After obtaining a large amount of money under false pretenses (i.e. claiming she is pregnant when she is not and forcing the guy [not Hiroko's boyfriend or Yousuke] to pay for the abortion) and spending it on a bottle of Dom Pérignon (which she sprays over everyone at the club), Rina collapses on the dance floor. She eventually discovers that she has cancer (non-Hodgkin lymphoma) and becomes hospitalized for an indefinite amount of time. In the hospital, she is not visited by her family, but by one of her classmates named Maki. Although Maki tells Rina that they were friends in primary school, Rina does not remember her, so Maki takes the opportunity to re-connect with her. A young girl, Kanae, who is also hospitalized tries to become friends with Rina, but she holds fast onto her mantra of friends being unnecessary.
Throughout her hospitalization, Rina begins to lose hope as her well-being falls apart...

47 Ronin

I had a lot higher hopes for this movie, I heard about this one ages ago, but I haven't had the time to watch it until now. And well... it was a disappointment. So much US and Hollywood in it, it didn't feel real at all.
I like most of the actors but this movie felt well... weird!?
Oh well, now I have seen it. And will probably never do again.

Plot
In late medieval Japan, Kai is a half-Japanese, half-British outcast who lives in the domain of Ako, ruled by the benevolent Lord Asano Naganori, who found a young Kai lost in the forest and accepted him into his household. Despite being scorned by the samurai due to his lowborn status and mixed ancestry, Kai falls in love with Asano's daughter, Mika.
Before a visit from Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, Lord Asano is visited by the Shogun's master of ceremonies, Lord Kira, who becomes attracted to Mika. He arranges a duel for the entertainment of the Shogun between his best warrior, the Lovecraftian Samurai, and one chosen by Oishi, principal counselor to Lord Asano. Ako's champion, Yasuno is found by Kai to be incapacitated before the duel by the sorceress Mizuki, working for Lord Kira.
Kai secretly dons Yasuno's armor and fights the Lovecraftian Samurai, but his disguise is broken and he is sentenced to punishment. Later that night, Mizuki bewitches Asano into believing Kira is raping Mika, causing Asano to attack an unarmed Kira in delirium. While the offense for attacking a Shogunate official is execution, the Shogun allows Asano to die with honor through seppuku, grants the domain of Ako to Lord Kira, and brands Oishi and his men Ronin. Kira demands Mika's hand in marriage on the spot, but the Shogun grants her one year to mourn the death of her father, and forbids the Ronin of Ako from seeking vengeance. To ensure there is no interference, Kira imprisons Oishi in an outdoor pit to break his spirit...
