NeogenxJoan Kim Vita Duo Cream - REVIEW

I have seen people complaining already about it and saying they feel Joan scammed them. But to be fair, isn't it the same with all "companies"? You promote your brand and product for people to buy it right? Not to defend Joan at all but just saying, as a consumer we have our own responsibility as well.Personally when someone says it's SOOOOO GOOD and perfect for all, I get SUPER SUSPICIOUS and I always take a second look because I don't trust people/companies! I mean at the end of the day they want to SELL!
I read and I hoped it would work on me despite the lavender oil etc. but knew I could get into trouble. Yet I was willing to spend the money although the cream isn't cheap!
Looking back at Joan's own review on YT and after using the cream I'm keen to know how many are in the Neogen office and how the various skintypes/age/gender etc was representative before this was approved to "fit all skin types".

The creams - Day cream is super thick yet easy to apply and Night cream - it's like a gel and light. I hate the lid, to me a little product escape each time when I close and i always had to clean it to avoid bacteria/dirt!!!
A little goes a long way so that's of good value for your money! It sets quickly to your skin.
I have super dry and somewhat sensitive but seems to be very selective for what drives the sensitivity. As a first impression I was super happy like WOW and no immediate irritation or anything. However 2 weeks in using it day and night I'm not so pleased.

1. Being as dry as I am, I urge to use my face mist throughout the day, usually it's enough like 2-4 times a day, now i want it every 30 min! If I tap on the skin before I mist it feels ok yet not the way other creams have done and therefore I urge to use my face mist way more than with other creams.
2. I get red around my cheeks!!!
3. When I put on make up, my foundation is caking!! Never happened with other creams!
4. it itches around some areas of my face.

I looked at Sokoglam's website to see what's out there for English speakers to support you in the choice (I bought mine using a Korean website and info in Korean). Sokoglam's website says "The nourishing Joan Day Vita Cream gives skin a morning boost with ingredients like energizing green tea and brightening vitamin C. The fast-absorbing formula also serves as a smooth canvas for makeup.
The Joan Night Vita Cream features a juicy gel formula that repairs, soothes, and strengthens skin while you sleep thanks to ingredients like lavender oil and vitamin E.
Using this perfect pair also ensures round-the-clock hydration.
Both formulas are free of parabens, artificial fragrance, animal ingredients, and mineral oil."

I think it gives you an idea right and also have full ingredient list! Awesome!!
But looking at the statement "smooth canvas for make up" - not for my skin! I have tried them separately and mixed. It's good they mention the Lavender oil!
It feels like a waste of money unfortunately (my own fault for want to try it out) as I have 90% of the jar left! I will see if my husband can use it, however he has even dryer skin than me...
I won't re-purchase it and I cannot recommend it to people with dry skin or sensitive skin.

I hope they can re-formulate it and remove oils and other ingredients which can irritate the skin. Possibly also only recommend it for certain skin types and not all!

Protect your skin

Sun products are important for many things and comes in different forms.
Important is that it absorbs or reflects the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation and helps to protect against sunburn. Diligent use of sunscreen can also slow or temporarily prevent the development of wrinkles, moles and sagging skin.
Also, sunscreens can be classified into physical sunscreens (i.e. reflects sunlight) or chemical sunscreens (i.e., absorb the UV light).

To use sunscreen is a very important step in many Asian's skincare routine.
Compare to us in the West who loves a great tan, most Asians fear it!
To sum it up
West - Tan = Holidays
East - Tan = work on the field / wrinkles and sagging skin!

Please take it with a pinch of salt, not all are like this is West vs East. But I have more Western friends who wants to go to get a tan compare to my Eastern, meaning Asian friends.

In Sweden where I live, I have to say it's not easy to find many sunscreens for the face, there are of course a few options but not same range as in Asia.
I have tried a few here in Sweden and some actually gave me rashes! I found one decent from the Pharmacy - Apoteket.

I have to admit, I'm not using sunscreen every day, I should but I don't...
I do on sunny or somewhat sunny days but not on gloomy and rainy onces, which I should because there are bad UV coming. But I also have to say, in Sweden the UV is not as strong as in other countries. Enough with the excuses.
I know I need to become better!!!

So which one should you use?
Well... I guess it depends on you. To know a sunscreen is not the same and no I'm not only talking about SPF and PA's I'm also talking on the function - water resistant, white cast, feeling against skin, if you use make up, acne prone, hydration.. etc.
There are many many factors!! Is it a Surprise?
Also look at where it's from, e.g. EU and Korea has stronger laws for approval than the US.
And a sun screen that works wonders for you might not work on your bestie or family member!

Here are a few in my stock of different ones!

Moistfull Collagen Cream

Who hasn't heard about this product? The Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream.
When I was introduced to this cream it was said: This face cream is enriched with Etude House's super collagen and Baobab water to provide moisture and keep your skin hydrated for over 12 hours. The gel texture makes this a good choice for dry to combination skin types.
A little goes a long way and it absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any greasy residue or heavy feeling behind. Skin feels soft and supple after application.

I can agree my skin feels soft and not greasy, but is it the best I have used?
Did I see a big difference?
I'm actually torn, it is good but not great. What I mean is that I can feel the smoothness and my skin is moist. But it doesn't provide my skin with the overall moist compare to some other creams I have used.  I would buy it again but it's not the first I'd go for.

Anyone wondered about the difference between J and K beauty?
As most think...for everything, Japan and Korea are "almost" the same.
But if you really know Japan and Korea you know it's not!

Please take a look at this video to see the similarities and the differences!

Neogen Knit mask

I was not able to pick this one up in Korea last time.
But I found it in Germany the other month!
This face mask is not like any other sheet mask. This one is knitted!

1. it felt heavier on the skin
2. It's way bigger, even covers the neck!
3. It was drenched in all the goodies.

Sadly the pack only comes with one per pack and cost around 6 Euros!
Similar price as Korea.
I liked the feeling, I have hard mixed reviews, but I liked a lot. Still not sure how effective this one is compare to the regular sheet masks. I have read reviews but I didn't buy enough to be able to tell.
I bought one pink and one yellow, so far I have only tried the pink!

Sorry for the pics below but didn't want to show it all..haha

A fun mask to try, all the excess fluids can be spread on neck, arms etc!
Do not waste it.
if you have extra "dry masks" you can make a DIY sheet mask!

Son & Park Beauty water

One of the most raved products in K-beauty.
The Son and Park Beauty water.

This product is a  multi-tasking toner and cleansing water. It is said that it creates a clean base for the next steps in your skincare and makeup routine. Besides from cleansing it also  mildly exfoliates with willow bark and papaya extract which help to sweep away dead skin cells, revealing brighter skin tone and smoother texture. Lavender water, rose water, and orange fruit extract impart a subtle hydration so your skin can be prepped to absorb the next skin care steps, while adding in a bit of moisture. The Beauty Water can be used in the morning to create the perfect canvas for makeup application, midday as a refresher, and night after cleansing to whisk away remaining impurities. The Beauty Water has a pH of 4.5, and it's paraben free.

My review, I love the texture and multi function.
I feel clean when using it. But lately I can see my pore clogs more than before.
It was a long time ago since I had this many black heads. Could also be because of the summer season - sunlight, sweat, sunscreen etc
I think I will need to use another toner and only use this to remove make up and impurities.

파워10 포뮬라 엘아이 이펙터

REVIEW to follow in a month or so as I have fully tried the product...

It's Skin is a brand in Korea I usually pass by. I think I have picked up one or two items from them before but nothing special. It's not that popular among Korean friends either. But recently I have taken an interest in their Power 10 Formula series. There are now 13 versions though ^^
I have even seen it being sold in Sweden, but WAY more expensive. In Korea you can get it for 10 USD and in Sweden almost 25 USD. I picked up the Power 10 Formula  LI Effector.
So what does this one do?

The description says: A concentrated brightening facial serum for dull skin Enriched with Licorice extract for effective brightening properties Helps lighten freckles, dark spots and other discolorations Promotes skin metabolism and reduces production of melanin Unveils a softer, clearer, more radiant, soothed and even-toned complexion Dermatologist-tested.

I bought it from Korea and when I got it I also got samples for the other ones. However as I read the details, this is the one I feel is THE one I need for the moment. I have used it for a few days now, I cannot see a HUGE difference. But my skin feels a bit calmer. I'm going through a test where I have changed some of my items, some better than others so I'll see as I continue to use to see a full effect.

How to use: After cleansing & toning, take a few drops on palms and rub together to warm the serum. Pat palms on face until serum is fully absorbed. Follow with cream or moisturizer

KLAIRS Supple Preparation Facial Toner

★★★/ ★★★★★

This product has been highly raved so I picked up a few in Korea last year. it has also won the Sokoglam Best of K-beauty.
It's said that this product is to remove excess dirt and sebum while restoring pH balance. Amino acids reduce irritation and provide deep hydration.

I used a whole bottle now and I don't know.
Compare to other tones, this was the best so far, but then I heard it could cause rash and redness and I have had a bit of that so I'm not sure if that has to do with my skintype. Or if it's because of another product. I need to evaluate. I now changed to another product so will see if there are any changes to fully understand if it's the toner or not. What I liked was that a little goes a long way and the bottle lasted for 1,5 months I believe.
I will continue to evaluate...but for now I'm in the middle.
I'd like to try the new one with out the oils, I think those could be why my skin causes to be red.

For normal, dry, combination and sensitive skin types.
This product has a pH level of 5
Size: 6.08 oz / 180 ml

라비오뜨 코드덤 캡슐 클렌징 워터

Last year I picked up a few of these - Capsule Cleansing Water from Labiotte. I love the bottle, it looks like a pill... haha
And I like the functionality of it, you press and it comes out, very convenient using a cotton pad.
I'm not sure if this is as revolutionary compare to similar products I have used.
This one comes in three different versions - Hydration, Clearing and Gentle.
This one is the gentle one, I have used half a bottle so far and I also have the hydration. I look forward to see if there are any differences.

Dry vs Dehydrated

Winter is still here and during this season a lot of us experience dryness.
But for some, you could be dehydrated!
Do you know the difference? And do you know if your skin is dry or dehydrated?
My skin is dry no matter what, but I also experience dehydration, however in all I'm dry!

I love Gothamista, she really gets to the point and makes it simple.

Jeju Orchid Eye Cream

★★★★★/★★★★★

This has become my holy grail eye cream! My hubby uses it too, we already finished a jar in 2 months. We love it, we both have dry skin, not sure of that's it.
I like the scent and the feeling after putting it on, my eyes feel calm and moist.

I have tried other eye cream but this one is the best so far!
A little go long way and patting it in is the best way to for the skin to absorb.
It's so hard to explain why, but it's the way my eye looks, even without make up. Before I could come to work without make up and I looked soooooooo tired. I can still go to work very tired, but my skin and eyes looks way more refreshed!!

According to Innisfree, this product contains orchids that are packed with antioxidants providing your skin with neutralizing agents that reverse damage caused by the sun, pollution, and other free radicals. I cannot be sure if it actually does this, but I think it's possible looking at my skin ^^
Then again I live in Sweden, not as polluted or sun right now but...

I can recommend this eye cream to anyone looking for a good eye cream ^^

You can get more info on Innisfree's Website

Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling - Lemon

As I went to Korea I was told about these, I picked up a few, but I started with the lemon one.
Wow what a game changer and what a great exfoliator!!
It's so easy to use there is no excuse not to. They really made it simple for us and the skin feels so different after use. I wonder how my skin will look like in a few months time. As this one contains a lot of Vitamin C I'm excited to see it making my skin clearer, smoother, and brighter!

I look forward to use them all, then to try the Wine and Green Tea versions ^^

You can get this at Sephora, Sokoglam, Amazon, SkinID (Sweden), Selfridges (UK)

Score
★★★★★/★★★★★

What is Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling?
The star ingredient of this version is lemon, it's loaded with Vitamin C (a powerful antioxidant) and nutrients that promote visibly clearer, smoother, and brighter skin!

A chemical and manual exfoliator that uses natural ingredients and innovative triple-pad technology. This product provides gentle yet effective exfoliation of dead skin cells and impurities, leaving skin smoother and clear. Dead skin cells are sloughed off the surface of the skin using the unique 3 layer pad technology, as lactic acid penetrates deep into your pores to clean out pore-clogging debris.

Solutions for:
- Uneven skin tone
- Dullness and uneven texture
- Oiliness
How to use

After cleansing, slip your fingers into the sleeve of the gauze peeling pad so that the criss-crossed gauze side is facing down. Use gentle, circular motions all over a dry face and neck, working your way up to your forehead.

Next, rotate the pad so that the gauze side is facing up and the soft, quilted side is facing down. Swipe the softer side across the face to pick up the remaining debris. Throw away pad. Rinse with lukewarm water.

LOW-PH GOOD MORNING CLEANSER

I bought this quite some time ago but I have had so many other cleansers I put this aside.
The world is raving about this and I have now used it for a few weeks. I like the texture, a little goes a long way! It has a scent, which reminds me of centella but it feels fresh.
I use this in the morning usually but happens that I use it at night too, however at night I currently use an oil and a water based cleansers. However my skin and I feel so refreshed after I use it! A perfect way to start the day! I'm also getting my husband to use it as well.
I can see the skin improving or being more refine, so I'm really happy with the purchase. I'd recommend this to others, especially because of the pH level in it.
It is a game changer when it comes to cleansers. Also, it's affordable!

Score
★★★★/★★★★★

  • Mildly acidic pH 5.0 ~ 6.0 Good Morning Gel Cleanser
  • pH 5.0 ~6.0 : similar to skin’s natural pH level
  • Contain tea-tree oil : control oily skin, shrink pore size

  • Gel type : smooth and skin friendly

WHY choose Good Morning Mildly Acidic Cleanser?

2. Feels stretched after wash (It feels too harsh!)
3. Becomes super dry in the afternoon (My skin is so dehydrated..)
4. Flaky skin (It’s almost like fallen leaves)
5. Looking for a safe product because of routine visit to skin clinic (Which cleanser should I use after the therapy?)
6. Feels uncomfortable with normal cleansers on the market (This is painful!)

1. Gently massage a small amount of Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser on wet skin.
